Open Competition
What is Open Competition?
Open Competition is something in which everyone irrespective of their age, irrespective of their education, irrespective of their profession, will be eligible for participating in Competition.
Why Open-Competition?
Level of technical thinking, and level of imagination is not at all constrained in Open-competition, even if you are in tenth grade you will be competing with professionals from which you can estimate where you stand among the globe. On the next-year with all the hard work, you can win the Open-competition and start competing around the globe, which eventually result in being a Global Icon.
Will JAY Robotrikz be always an Open-Competition?
Yes, at JAY Robotics Club, we do believe that competing with everyone irrespective of age and education will sure develop us into greater technical personality and so we have no idea whatsoever to change the Competition status.
Line Following Robot
Competition Rules
- Black Line following robot are only eligible.
- No manual controls are allowed
- Must be a fully automated black line follower robot
- You can design in Printed Circuit Board (PCB), General Purpose Board (GPB), or Bread Board (BB), whichever is convenient.
- Lego robots, all pre-fabricated & ready-made robots are also allowed
- Line will be of 2.5 cm wide and will be constant throughout the circuit, line will not exceed 2.5cm width anywhere in the circuit.
- The robot will have to travel a maximum of 10 meters, so design appropriate batteries
- The size of the banner will be in 8 x 8 ft.
- Batteries will not be allowed to change during the course of competition
- Judges decision will be final.
Marks Criteria
- The robot will be considered for prizes only if it completes the whole circuit
- The team with the shortest time duration will be awarded the first prize
- If 2 or more robots complete the circuit, the robot with the shortest time for completing the circuit will be awarded the first prize
- The team members are allowed to adjust the robot only twice after it gets started
- Handling of robot in the arena will result in +5 seconds
Ways of Disqualification
- Competitors should provide suitable arrangements for protection of batteries, any kind of short circuit inside the competition arena will result in disqualification
- Voltage anywhere on the robot should not exceed 12V DC. While on the technical inspection if anywhere is found more than 12V DC, instant settings should be changed to 12V or less than that, and if not the case will lead the particular competitor to disqualify
- Handling of the robot for more than two times in competition arena will lead to disqualification
- If any kind of manual control is used for controlling the robot, then particular competitor will automatically be disqualified
- Disqualified competitors cannot claim for refund of registration amount so make sure you read all Rules and Regulation before Registering.

Robot Race
Competition Rules
- Wired or wireless robot is eligible for competition
- Track width will be 1 feet 6 inches
- Robot width should be maximum of 1 feet 2 inches, height should not exceed 9 inches, and there is no constraint in length
- Track will consist of various obstacles
- Length of the track will be of maximum 40 meters, so design appropriate batteries
- Batteries will not be allowed to change during the course of competition
- Each team should be having maximum of 2 members
- If you are about to use wired robots please make sure that minimum wire length is 5 meters
- People using wired robot should make sure that wires does not cause any disturbance to your own robot and arena
Marks Criteria
- The robot will be considered for prizes only if it completes the whole track
- The robot with the shortest time will be awarded first prize
- Robot will not be allowed to handle for more than 5 seconds at one instance
- Obstacles will be allowed to skip with added 5 seconds
Ways of Disqualification
- Robot’s battery should not exceed +12 volts. While on the technical inspection if anywhere is found more than 12V DC, instant settings should be changed to 12V or less than that, and if not the case will lead the particular competitor to disqualify
- Precautions should be taken to safe guard battery terminals if there is any kind of short circuits in the robot while in the arena will lead to disqualification
- Disqualified competitors cannot claim for refund of registration amount so make sure you read all Rules and Regulation before Registering.

Robot Carnival
Competition Rules

Participants should submit abstract of the project before the given deadline in the below form

Selected projects will get confirmation through mail

Your project should have at least one concept related to robotics or embedded systems (i.e. automation)

Participants should record a video of the working of the project in good quality and should be able to produce it on demand through pen drive or video in mobile phone

Participants should be able to show the demo of their project for at least 10 people, among them, there will be 3 judges, so make sure you have enough provisions to show the working model of your project

AC Supply would be provided on request to the participants at the venue
Marks Criteria
- Problem Solving (30 points): Judges will look into the project with problem solving capability, which is what we at JAY ROBOTRIKZ think is the necessary for the innovation (project). Example: If your project is a real time fire extinguisher robot or a model which can be made into a real time fire extinguisher robot which could save precious lives and is the need of the hour your project solves the hard hill task of extinguishing fire very easily. So your project will be given maximum points under problem solving category
- Low Cost (30 points): Not only concentrating on new concepts, one more important necessity of human race is reducing the cost of commonly available products like PC, laptop, and mobile phones. Example: If your project focusses on developing high speed processors at low cost, developing a motherboard at low cost, your project will be given maximum points under this category
- Innovation (20 Points): In this category, jury perspective will be on innovation, how innovative your project is. Innovation in terms of technology, in terms of assembly, in terms of design.
- Aesthetics (10 points): Very common, more intuitive category to all, is the looks of your project, how well have you physically presented your project.
- Briefing (10 points): Participant should be able to present their project in a more intuitive and in a way which could be easily understood by Judges. Which would come under briefing category and it could fetch you maximum points in this category.
Ways of Disqualification

Participant should make sure their project in any way should not damage the desk or other participants, if so that particular participant will be disqualified.

If you are skeptical about whether your exhibit (project) is suitable for demo, please contact us for confirmation at robotrikz@jayroboticsclub.in with subject ROBOT CARNIVAL, please don’t hesitate to contact us before registering. If judges found it to be non-suitable for the event it will be disqualified.

Participants should be very careful while working with AC Supply, to charge batteries or to use it live, mishandling or creating a chaos in the arena will automatically lead to disqualification

Submit Abstract
You are requested to pay the registration fee only after when you receive the abstract shortlisted email from JAY Robotrikz.
Terms and Conditions:
- On-spot registrations will not be accepted.
- Registration fee does not include food, accommodation, traveling, and other expenses.
- Registration fee will not be refunded for any reasons.
- School students are requested to bring School ID card during competition.
- School students are only eligible for school category prizes. They can’t claim for open category prize money.
- Every event will be recorded and will be published in our website.
- Participant raising any claims could watch the video and resolve.
- JAY ROBOTRIKZ 2016 organizing committee has the authority to decide the winners for each event In case any claim or dispute arises in respect of JAY ROBOTRIKZ 2016 (August), the Courts and Tribunals in Chennai (Madras High Court) alone shall have the exclusive jurisdiction to entertain and settle any such dispute or claim.
